Vintage; Original roll-out production/introduction period C.1995-99 is this Original Barbara Barry for Baker furniture, signature, oval x-back, slat detailed lounge chair, in a black cherry to a deep dark espresso (java), finish. This transitional, more contemporary, casual and Moderne', yet still sophisticated, transitional take and/or interpretation of the often transformative, open-armed, classical and traditional French Fauteuil or Bergere' chair, is this popular and much coveted, Barbara Barry for Baker Furniture, lounge chair. The chair has slightly; oversized proportions, which gives a more sumptuous and stylish profile, and statement piece, with soft curved lines, open seating, with flared legs, which makes it a highly comfortable arm chair, with tight seat and back rest upholstery, which makes this the perfect proportion and ratio to comfort, beyond the crafted and structural soundness of this chair. This chair happens to be one of the most recognizable pieces by Barbara Barry for Baker, iconic, as well as most popular for seating in it's time. The very chair also is current in dining height chairs arm/armless. It is in the original upholstery of a combination, silk, rayon, cotton, viscose textile depicting a bird on a floral tree branch, with double self-welted detail. A nod to the Draper Period, in addition to an Asian motif textile. One would not know it until sitting or relaxing oneself in the chair; as it is, it has just that perfect pitched to the backrest, with open, curved arms, in such a sinuous undulation, as if to encompass, and invite, while at the same time, set a feeling of warmth from, and as an example of insulating oneself toward's a hug, but ends in the arm rest ends, which makes the whole ambiance and comfort a true relaxing experience, beyond the internal framework of the guts of the chair, and a firm seat, making for sitting in a relaxing manner, while still conforming to a cocooned posture. Form and function at it's best. The frame itself has back flared back legs, while the front legs have a curved shape. These minute, design transformations, along with and given to the back side of the back rest, with this x-back esthetic bring this chair into any interior dynamic possibility. The frame is in pretty good condition with minor nicks near the ends of the legs in a couple area, while also we have left the original upholstery, which has a wee couple stains, a) one to the back rest between the floral and bird, and a small mine 1/16" on the seat. We ascertain that a cleaning company such as Coit, which has services to clean fabric on chairs, may be able to remove, but we also left the original, as we have found to be that many Buyer's wish to re-upholster in their own C.O.M., as in currently and in the past, we went to the trouble to have many pieces given new-updated upholstery. We will inform the lisiting details, if we choose to clean that one wee stain.
CHAIR NO lONGER IN PRODUCTION in THIS FORMAT SIZE and DIMENSIONS.
Th finish is a Dark Oxblood Brown/Black Cherry to a Dark Java Brown /Espresso Finish, synonymous to many of the earlier pieces, popularized in Barbara barry pieces. Depends upon the light source, the wood will enhnce it's rich deep coloration and at other times, it may seem as if it is an sati ebony finish. less
