The … Read more Discover this wonderful French gilt wood rectangular mirror from the 19th century with small flower ornaments on each corner. The mirror has a wooden frame, decorated with gesso and gilded with gold leaf. The frame features elegant pearl beadings on the interior perimeter. The mirror dates from about 1880. The glass is original from the time, which is why there are some (very) small weathered spots in the glass. The gold leaf gilding shows some slight red bole through the gilding, giving the gold color a warm touch. The frame is in a good healthy condition and has a beautiful warm antique patina. This mirror is antique and looks very modern at the same time. It will make a fantastic decorative accent in any interior. Note: The stripe visible in the glass is from the board used during photography—it is not part of the mirror glass!
