This stool comes from Ghana and is connected to the Asante/Ashanti culture. It's made from a single piece of wood. This is a Mma' gwa or women's stool. It is characterized by 5 supports under the seat, the middle one of which has an openwork motif. (There is an opening for this at the bottom of the stool). The other supports have a saw tooth motif. Signs of wear/age. Beautiful patina. The color is actually slightly warmer than in the pictures.
Weight 3.5 kg.
