Description: Very unusual '' Directoire" Armoire with yew doors and chestnut framing. It is rare to see so much of the … more Very unusual '' Directoire" Armoire with yew doors and chestnut framing. It is rare to see so much of the yew wood which typically grows high in the mountain and because of the winds it never grows straight up and has a ''vawy and curly'' character .
The case rests on French bracket feet. The double doors are mounted with cast brass peacock escutcheon hardware, cast brass barrel hinges and a working double lock with the key. There are two shelves with large interior drawer. The surfaced has been waxed and polished . The armoire is in very good condition and has a nice patina typical for 18-century furniture. less
