This hand knotted wool vintage Persian Mahal runner features a stepped lozenge center medallion with four anchor pendants floating amongst a hexagonal paneled field. Each panel contains stylized lotuses, vines, rosettes, leaves and six-pointed stars. The stepped corner spandrels echo the large blossom motif that adorns the center medallion. The wide lotus meander main border is offset by a sawtooth inner border and a rosette and pinwheel outer guard border. Unexpected touches of robin’s egg blue and coral energize the otherwise classic red and navy blue color scheme.
