St. Paul’s Catholic church doors. Fort Wayne Indiana.
Church was built 1886, architect Peter Dederichs designed this church in the Renaissance Revival style which was based on 16th century Italian architecture.
It featured common style elements such as a rusticated stone base, pilasters and classical ornamentation.
It also exhibited Roman arches. Inside were original portraits and walls stenciling typically seen in churches built in the 1880s.
Doors exhibit four panels each with the exterior framed with hand carved egg and dart.
Demolished 2004
This Set, pair of door are complete with all working Brass hardware in tact minus key.
Hand crafted from Indiana hard woods of Walnut and Poplar makes for a grand entrance.
In the pictures you'll see the the doors look miss-match but in fact a pair.
One door is up-side down as far too heavy for one person to flip, each weighting several hundreds of pounds.
These would be a fantastic entrance to a new home built as I've seen a pair on a home.
