Obviously originally this was a piano stool, of course as such a perfect addition to your living room or wherever you play your piano.

But more and more these days these are used throughout the house, very useful in and entrance hall where you could sit and take your boots and shoes on and off when seated and keep your gloves and keys in the inner compartment. Perfect as a dressing table stool or just as a bedroom stool, again to aid you with footwear or generally just for flinging your clothes on if you are like me a little untidy.

It is of the finest quality being made of mahogany and made to a very high standard. It has a dark stain on it and for something over 100 years old is very well preserved still with apart from aesthetic wear there is really nothing wrong with this externally.

By the looks of the fabric this was reupholstered in the 50s or 60s and this remains very well preserved and is a point of interest to the history of the stool is that it was obviously upgraded about halfway through its current life.

The original bottom to the stool within the compartment has been replaced by a piece of board which is painted and as you can see in the images there is a loose piece of mahogany placed over it. The stools holding arm is broken which doesn't matter so much with this particular stool as these were generally just to stop the surface from falling backwards, which obviously it cannot do because of the back to the seat but it does mean when you open it you do have to hold it open whilst you perform whatever task you need to within.

A fantastic stool in lovely condition and a rather fabulous look to it. See less
