This exceptional and historical lamp was designed by famed German Bauhaus architect and designer Marcel Breuer for the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts - the exhibition that launched Art Deco as a movement. This unique and highly collectible table lamp is heavy and well-constructed from brass-plated nickel with a distinctly modern form that incorporates early 20th century design elements from Art Deco and the Bauhaus. Stamped “Exposition Paris 1925” on the suede fabric-lined underside. Small identifying marks engraved on back of lampshade as per photos.

The 1925 Paris Exposition
The Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes or International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts was a specialized exhibition held in Paris, France, from April to October 1925. It was designed by the French government to highlight the new modern style of architecture, interior decoration, furniture, glass, jewelry and other decorative arts in Europe and throughout the world. The modern style presented at the exposition later became known as "Art Deco", after the exposition's name.

CONDITION
Expected oxidation to brass surface as expected with age. Small round black glass cap not present on base. Working order. European wiring can work with LED bulb. Single white porcelain socket accepts standard base bulb. On/off switch on black plug-in cord.
