This vintage porcelain milk pitcher or creamer is a fine example of German art pottery, made in the 1920s to 1940s by Royal Bayreuth, I believe. The figural porcelain / ceramic pitcher is of a kingfisher with a fish in his beak. He has a burnt orange stomach and green and blue feathers on his back and head. The pitcher has no makers mark but is stamped Germany in orange on the bottom. It also has a faded hand-written date, 12/25/46 (which might be when it was made or when it was acquired or given as a gift).
The pitcher is in very good condition, with a few small nicks or rubs to the paint. It also looks like it lost a sliver of beak on one side, which was then repainted, either in the factory or later. It's noticeable only on close examination. less
