There is some separation of the boards due to age related shrinkage. There are also some old repairs that can be seen with one particularly noticeable old (likely 19th Century) patch to the center board. There are other stains and surface imperfections that can be easily seen on the pics, which one would expect to find on a piece of this age, but overall a wonderful piece made from very heavy solid oak so it's very sturdy. less
