A design that has stood the test of time, our hand stitched Samara quilt is an eye-catching piece to complete your dining room or bedroom décor. Echoing the principles of Sufism, the symmetrical grid-like design flows across the cloth like stars in the night sky, symbolizing the universe and constellations.
These complex patterns with bright white details on deep crimson red set against an indigo blue background are created using sophisticated resist printing techniques. The mud-resist printed fabric is sprinkled with sawdust to keep the lines crisp, before dipping it into vats of colorful dye. The dyed cloth is washed and as it dries in the sun, the red and blue areas of the design develop, and the resist areas are revealed as white.
The origin of this meticulous craft can be traced back to the Sindh region of Pakistan and was brought to the desert region in North-West India around the 16th century. Pairing a visible running stitch on both sides with a pretty cross-stitched edge, this charming take on the traditional craft also shares a design legacy with ancient Indian kantha quilts.
Spread one over the dinner table to elevate a meal, or take it with you for a quilted picnic blanket. These unique textiles also look lovely draped over a twin bed or a couch. You can find these quilts in Queen size (90" x 108") under "Bedding - Patchwork & Hand Stitched Quilts".
*Some color rub-off is to be expected in indigo hand printed textiles. We recommend cold washing separately before use.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
Protect from direct sunlight when using.
Hand or machine wash separately in cold water on gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent without any bleach or fabric softeners.
Do not soak or wring the fabrics. Scrub gently if needed.
Tumble dry on low heat or air dry in the shade.
Test stain remover on a small area before applying.
