Offered for your consideration, a period country Chippendale chest. This classic piece features a lovey mellow patina and ample storage within its four graduated drawers. The case is fashioned from New England hardwood, possibly birch and/or hard maple with the drawers, interiors and other secondary elements being from eastern hemlock and pine. Note the subtle movement and figuring in the woodgrain on the door fronts and parts of the bracket base. The chest exhibits time- honored construction details such as dovetailed joinery and chamfering on the drawer bottoms and under edge of the top. A perfect way to add a touch of history and rustic elegance to your traditional or eclectic home.

Some cracks and abrasions and wood loss that are typical for a piece of this vintage. The chest has been well maintained and has undergone repairs over its long life. New blocks have been added at the corner joints of the base and some newer wood on the drawer bottoms as well. The brasses are good quality vintage replicas. Overall, still a sturdy piece and with proper care, has many more years to come. less
