Design by Ángelo Gaetano Sciolari, who was one of the Italian designers recognized for his mid-century modern lamps. Born at the beginning of the 20th century, Sciolari, the son of a family of Italian illuminators that had been producing lamps since 1892, began designing for the Italian manufacturer Stilnovo in the 1950s. It was there that he created his most recognized and famous work, a series of multi-light chandeliers made of shiny and matte metal, which evoke futuristic visions of the incipient space age, as is the case with this five-arm ceiling lamp. Luxurious lamp creations began to gain relevance and popularity in the United States during the 1970s, a decade in which their style began to look towards an aesthetic inspired by Art Deco and Space Age.
