A rare Italian Midcentury drinks or serving trolley by the renowned designer and architect Gianfranco Frattini. Having striking clean lines typical of Italian design from this period. The glass top help in a chamfered rectangular frame leading to two angled legs to its front . Attached to the rear is a wonderful handle in the form of fish tail which in turn leads down the the rear legs. All the legs terminate in stylish brass and rubber castors. The lower shelf section with simple yet effective turned lip to one end. A very smart and stylish piece of Italian design from one of the most respected designer architects Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2001). The depth given is the overall depth. The length of the table top is 77cm.
Gianfranco Frattini opened his professional practice in Milan after training under his mentor Giò Ponti. He ventured into industrial design by necessity, creating lighting and furniture to complement his interiors. His collaboration with Cesare Cassina began in 1954, followed by work with notable manufacturers such as Bernini, Arteluce, Acerbis, Fantoni, Artemide (co-designing the iconic Boalum lamp with Livio Castiglioni), Luci, Knoll, and Lema. In 1956, he co-founded the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale, practicing both industrial design and architecture with a focus on interiors. His projects included private apartments, palazzos, stores, and offices.
Frattini also undertook international commissions, designing luxury store interiors in Düsseldorf and Luxembourg, as well as the public spaces of the Tokyo Hilton. His work is featured in prominent collections, including glassware for Progetti at the Museum of Modern Art and the Boalum lamp at the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.
