Pair of Adam style demi-lune card tables, England, second half of the 19th century. Supported by truncated pyramid legs, they have opening tops with green play cloth inside. Completely veneered in citronnier wood with inlaid threads in mahogany and boxwood and the surface painted with neoclassical decorations, flowers, festoons and curtains held by gallons, classic vases and medallions with gallant scenes in the centre. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
