Neoclassical commode hand-made in Italy in the late 1700s using walnut. The dresser features three drawers, the top one a little narrower than the bottom two. Each drawer has beautiful, large, hand-made dovetail joints. The drawers are decorated on the fronts with an elegant thin inlaid frame in the shape of a rectangle. The same inlay is present also on the sides, the top as well as the legs. The top is made of a single board with a ogee edge and straight corners. The side are made of inset flat panels framed with flat molding. The legs are tapered, as typical of the style and decorated with the same rectangular inlay that is present throughout the piece.
The presence of the inlay on all sides of the commode gives it a beautiful balance, making this a very elegant piece that will look great in a formal setting as well as a more toned down, but still, classical setting. The color is deep and warm, accentuated by the small imperfections accumulated over time and use. This is an absolutely gorgeous chest of drawers that is built very well and can be used on a daily basis for many more years to come.
