Ancient golden frame carved in horizontal lime wood with scrolls of large foliage; the depth of the pronounced scrolls is typical of cartocci, ornamental motifs depicting leaves with rolled, crumpled tips. This Lombard baroque frame from the 1600s is actually a frieze as it was created without a frame, the present one has been brought back and was probably originally placed as a frame for the window of a reliquary. The gilding is water-based with a red bole preparation and is in good condition regardless of minimal defects.
Hand-sculpted in a horizontal rectangular shape, the frame is made up of deep volutes and deep leaf decorations, the flat parts around the opening have fine engraving and star-shaped engravings. Inside it is centered by a shaped mirror. In good condition, apart from minimal repairs to the upper curls. Two small curls have been redone, as highlighted in the gallery in the photo of the back and the tip of a scroll is missing in the middle right part. repairs compatible with the 17th century dating, comes from a private collection.
