Sterling silver Towle dessert or bread plate bearing the name Jordan Gilbert Van Cleve engraved in an arc in script on the rim. Banged with dents, this is one of the most aesthetically pleasing plates you will find.
Van Cleve is probably JGVC of New Jersey (1919-1977). Maybe this was a baby present or part of a pair for a wedding present (he married in 1943 in Manhattan).
