Incredibly rare and important, museum-quality Limoges serving pieces c. 1870s created for Haviland & Co by Felix-Joseph-Auguste Bracquemond, known as "Service Figures Et Accessoires Japonaise". Examples of this service are found in the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Virginia Museum of Art, Richmond; and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris.
Created on transfer-printed porcelain, then hand decorated and glazed by Bracquemond, which led to crediting him with starting the Japonisme movement in France. There are four variations of the Haviland mark on these pieces. The footed bowl mark dates to 1879. Dimensions of each piece are detailed below:
Compote (footed bowl) is 4 1/2" high x 8 3/4" across
Round covered bowl is 6 1/4" high x 8 1/8" across x 9 1/2" handle to handle (3 1/2" tall without lid)
Oblong covered bowl is 5 3/4" high x 11 1/2" long x 6 3/4" across (3 1/4" tall without lid)
Cup with Saucer is 3" high x 6" across (saucer)
