Rare Antique Edwardian c1910 Precista Cast Metal Putti Cherubs Mantle Clock - England - WORKS!
This is a gorgeous Edwardian Era (c 1910) cast metal (spelter) clock with a bronze finish made by Precista of England. In a highly ornate Regency style, this features an urn full of roses flanked by two putti cherubs on the top with Neoclassical columns down the sides. There are roses and bows on the front of the case and swags of roses between the ornate feet. The clock is a wind up style and works, has a mechanis to slow or speed up the time, the little knob to change the time on the hands is missing, you could use a small pair of jewely pliers to turn it. The finish is in nice condition with minimal wear. Clock measures 8.5" high, 8" wide, 3" deep, and weighs 3.5 lbs.
A little bit of history on Precista:
Precista is mainly known for making watches during WWII 1940's and 50's in England. The company never filed for a Trademark and there are few business records left. But there have been records of the sale of Precista watches in estate sales dating back to 1910 & 1915.
