This stunning 19th-century Cane Louis XVI giltwood canapé is a true masterpiece of furniture artistry! Each hand-carved detail showcases the exquisite craftsmanship inspired by the classic Louis XVI style.
A true highlight of the piece is the back medallion, which features a lovely ribbon detail framing the circle and a beautiful rose at its crown center. The elegantly curved wing sides and scroll arms are adorned with a delicate leaf motif, while the seat rail catches the eye with its intricately carved guilloche pattern. The pegged joints are enhanced by charming rosettes, and the ornate floral and fluted legs transition seamlessly into delightful toupie feet.
The canapé is spacious and can accommodate either three cushions or one long cushion. The original cushion is made of needlepoint with horsehair stuffing. While it is heavy and substantial, it does show discoloration and wear, so a cushion slipcover will be necessary. However, there is enough original needlepoint material available to create beautiful throw pillows that will complement the lovely needlepoint armrests.
The original giltwood finish has developed a stunning patina that exudes charm and character, making this remarkable piece a truly desirable addition to any collection. Don’t miss the opportunity to own a piece of history!

The needlepoint on the armrests is in good condition but needs cleaning. There is a split in the wood on the left side curve; however, it does not compromise stability and could be cosmetically repaired. The piece has been thouroghly cleaned wit the exception of the needlepoint. pictures dont do it justice Really is a very beautiful piece. less
