FREE SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE CONTINENTAL US! This is a set of gorgeous vintage botanical lithographs. Spatula foetida is the Latin name for the stinking iris, a type of iris that gets its name from the unpleasant smell of its bruised leaves. This lithograph is taken from the hand-colored copper engraving by Basilius Besler that was published in Hortus Eystettensis, a large flower book published in Altdorf and Nürnberg around 1613. Hortus Eystettensis was the largest flower book published at the time. Double matted in green and violet. The prints themselves (sight) measure 11" x 9 1/4" and are displayed in a dark reddish-brown frame measuring 17 3/4" x 15 3/4".
Condition: Please excuse the glass reflections in some of the photos. Both prints are in very good condition. They come with hooks on the back to make them ready to hang. There is some signs of wear to the frames, mostly to the center top (please see last photo).
I do have more artwork for sale, including antique and vintage portraits, so please be sure to check out the other items in my shop.
