Antique Large Indian Scroll Holder with Base
in silver around sterling (.925) (between .900 and .925)
beautifully decorated with intricate drilling and repoussé work
the center part is perforated with unengraved plate while the side parts are cantilevered
detailed and well finished work
origin North India
Indian Raj period circa 1880/1900
the scroll holder is thick and weighs, with base, gr 298.5
the container alone weighs gr 214.6
also the base is silver tested (a small filing has been made inside the base for silver testing)
measures in length approx cm 26 with a diameter of cm 4
opens and closes on one side under pressure
has no dents and stays closed very well
condition is excellent for age
the base instead measures cm 9 where the scroll holder should be placed with a base diameter of cm 7.5 and a height of cm 4.6
