This specimen was found in italy in civitella d'arno in umbria, in the province of perugia. It was purchased by the british museum in 1968 by mr. Alessandro castellani. The night - primordial deity according to the orphic tradition (from orpheus singer and musician, son of eagro, king of thrace and the muse calliope) he was born from chaos (the immense empty space from which all things were born) in the form of a black bird together with erebus (personification of darkness and brother and husband of the night).
