The large format, 25-page hardcover , whose title translated is "Our Children - Scenes in the City and the Country" is in very good antique condition. It is undated, but considered 1900 or a bit later. The darling illustrations are in both b/w and color - with the main, pastel illustrations printed on glossy paper throughout. Each small story has a companion illustration, They are clean, bright and not aged. The stories, however, are tanned, but clearly legible, and lightly sunned on the edges (as are the illustrated pages). Considering the advanced age, the antique book is quite notable for its splendid condition.. The front boards and spine show more some wear along the edges & the cloth spine, is unraveling,but book is sturdy & intact. Anatole France won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1921. He was a prolific author who wrote in many genres - including, apparently, children's books. This book makes a stunning fashion statement, on any coffee table or in any children's room.
