The 201-page hardcover, in striking clipped dust jacket, includes a Preface by actor, Yul Brynner, and Mid- Century art by Nicolai Remisoff. The author, nephew of Anton Chekhov, was both actor, director and teacher. In a jacket blurb, actor Gregory Peck comments, "To The Actor' is by far, the best book that I have read on the subject of acting...." The book is in very good vintage condition.-clean, bright, unmarked (and giftable). The jacket, has a small chip on the bottom, left front, but is now protected by a mylar sleeve. This 72-year-old book, is a great reference today's for drama students and actors, and/or collectors of vintage books about acting techniques (including improvisation).
