On the design:

Admirers of the craft will appreciate this piece featuring a regal design that arguably represents the pinnacle of this Ottoman lineage—particularly in its fine details and elegant sensibility. It’s equally collectible for being a rug like few of this Mihrab Prayer style and versatile size alike. A field of beige and especially present salmon red and green tones underscore a Mihrab pattern, or “prayer rug” representing the gateway to paradise. The Mihrab appears to be made of minimalist cypress tree floral patterns, which collectors will know is one of several motifs often associated with the “tree of life” and its wide-reaching symbolism. The particular choice of colors, execution of pattern and overall quality all speak to an extremely desirable piece as much as a gorgeous work of the late-19th century, worthy of the most precious collections and design applications alike today.
