Pizzicato' double bass player, oil on board (circa 1940s - 50s), by artist with initials, v.r. When a double bass player plucks the strings with their fingers it is called 'pizzicato'. This sumptuous cubist depiction of the musician is inspired by picasso without a doubt. The face is reminiscent of an african mask as seen in picasso's first cubist work, 'les demoiselles d'avignon'. In this work by v.r., the colours are striking and its more vertical aspect sets it apart, perfect for that empty niche in one's home or work space.
little is known on the artist v.r however recently several galleries have acquired and are now selling vr's works. This clearly speaks to the widespread assessment of the quality and interest of the art. Today, the artists’ creations hang on the walls of art lovers in london, paris, new york, hong kong, miami and los angeles. This piece has an attribution mark,
