This unique original Victorian washstand is a beautiful piece of history.
In olden days this was used to place a wash basin and a water pitcher, like we currently use our bathroom vanity.
The wood is most likely mahogany or rosewood.
The marble slab is completely intact and lays loose on top of the wooden cabinet.
The backsplash is placed on top of the marble slab which has two holes to hold the wooden pegs of the backsplash in place. The tiles are in immaculate shape for their age.

details:
One piece on the right top corner of the wooden molding is broken.
The drawers slide in more than should when pushed further, most probably a peg is missing on the inside as a stopper. See less
