An outstanding, versatile and extremely rare large trestle bench or coffee table in super vintage condition. This incredible and hugely attractive piece will add gorgeous colouring and a bygone rustic aesthetic of traditional English craftsmanship to any interior.
This exceptional piece was likely originally crafted as a Victorian chapel bench around 1860-90 and later repurposed as a large rustic coffee table, with the groove-edged border probably added around 1920-40 after the style of the burgeoning Cotswold School Arts & Crafts movement – renowned for including decorative flourishes to traditionally fashioned Arts & Crafts English oak furniture.
Wonderfully hand-crafted from richly toned and beautifully patterned solid tiger oak, varying in hue from coffee-brown to vibrant gold and displaying gorgeous grain patterning, this stunning and extremely rare piece features three outstandingly sculptural and shapely trestle legs. Joined by a robust crossbar stretcher, the tryptic of showstopping legs support the large and impressively chunky top. Complete with the small decorative grooved-edged border, it can be purposed as a magnificent coffee table, whilst still being an extremely usable bench – win, win!
All in all this is a remarkable, extremely rare and highly versatile piece, which won’t fail to make a stunning impression and will add gorgeous colouring and a traditional rustic aesthetic to any setting. We’ve never seen another even remotely similar to this beauty, so grab it while you can!

This strikingly attractive piece is in very-good-to-excellent antique condition. Expertly and traditionally hand-crafted from excellent quality English oak, it is structurally sound, extremely robust and reassuringly heavy. It has minor to-be-expected marks and wear to show its age and use, which if anything only enhance its authentic antique rustic charm and appeal. Overall it's an outstanding piece in wonderful condition and if well looked after it should be just as breathtaking and usable for centuries more to come – please see the photos.
