On close examination there are some light scratches and lines on the leather and some nicks, scuffs and light scratches on the chrome. The black lacquered wood armrests are fine. There are belts under the seats if one wishes to adjust the firmness and foot gliders for protection. The chairs have no markings. less

Marcel Breuer, a Bauhaus student who rose to become a master, designed these iconic lounge chairs in 1929, unveiling them at the 1930 Salon des Décorateurs Exhibition in Paris. The chairs feature a striking lightness and transparency of form, with an exceptionally elegant silhouette. The seat with backrest, and the armrests are both cantilevered in a dramatic fashion, creating a single continuous line that gracefully loops without the need for vertical supports. Moreover, the seat with backrest, and the armrests remain separate, flexing independently yet balancing each other perfectly. At the time of their creation, these chairs were revolutionary—embodying both modernity and the emerging modern lifestyle. Today, they are celebrated as timeless classics representing the dawn of modernist furniture design. less
