A pair of impressive painted oval tea canisters featuring gilded Chinoiserie scenes on a black ground framed with Baroque flourishes and a Greek key border at the neck. Excellent condition. Each jar has a different scene on front. The back and sides of the lamps are also paint decorated. The tole shade has a painted border featuring branches, oak leaves, and acorns.
Originally this type of canister was used to store tea in a merchant's shop. They are perfect as a pair of table lamps.
