1984 Limited first edition portfolio production with the first collected publication of Shahn’s 1930s Dreyfus prints—eight exhibition-size color Pochoir prints on Grandes Arches handmade vergé paper, each in descriptive sleeves with protective vellum sheet and edging, with a book of essays, in the original sturdy clamshell box. The set is in pristine condition, the contents are complete and appear to not have been handled. Noted for accuracy is minor wear to the back edge of the clamshell case .
The outer box measures 16.5" height, 13" width and 1.5" depth, prints measure 15.25" x 11.75".
The text volume contains the text of Zola's letter J'Accuse!, and essays by Shahn's wife Bernarda Bryson Shahn, the historian Egal Feldman and by Charles Westheimer. The prints are of Captain Alfred Dreyfus, Georges Picquart, Paleologue and Demange, Labori and Picquart, Marie-Charles-Ferdinand Walsin-Esterhazy, Major Armand-Auguste-Ferdinand-Marie Mercier du Paty de Clam and Fernand Labori.
