Beautiful classic sculpture in porcelain biscuit, depicting a motherhood, with a lady with a color palette and brush, and a child. Made by the very famous German manufacturer Scheibe-Alsbach, signed under the base with an engraved mark from the end of the 19th century. The ancient patina is clearly visible throughout the sculpture, and the material used is also of the highest quality with a thick, compact biscuit with a porous surface and slightly frizzy, not smooth and milky. There is no flaw on the sculpture, a perfect plastic execution down to the smallest details, from the hair, the drapery, the eyes, the mouth of the woman, to the fabulous hairstyle of the hair, combined with the beauty of the skirt that falls softly on the base and the expressiveness of the sleepy child, makes this sculpture unique and rare of its kind.

Scheibe-Alsbach is an important German manufacturer founded in 1836, which achieved international success in the production of highly valuable figurines, hired all the most important sculptors of the period and produced porcelain and biscuit figurines similar to those of Meissen. It won many prizes from 1870 to 1914. The biscuits from the Scheibe-Alsbach manufacture are among the most beautiful and most sought-after German biscuits internationally, being extremely rare and of the highest artistic quality.
