What can I say about Incolay?!!!!! An very interesting manmade material that mimics the look of variegated marble. Incolay Stone is a complex combination of various colored natural minerals, made up of quartz bases minerals. An Incolay product uses Rose quartz, Sapphire Blue quartz, Sardonyx, Carnelian, Onyx and Banded agate to create a wonderful mix of colors that are found in nature. The developers wanted tobe able to create Art Nouveau style reproductions for a lesser cost for homeowners to decorate with. It was developed in 1966 and was an instant hit. The artisans at INCOLAY utilize a process by which they are able to reproduce with precision and detail the finest works of antiquity as well as the work of today's exceptional artists. The name INCOLAY is a coined word derived from "in-layers of color" or "in-color-lay" beauty. All of Incolay's pieces are handcrafted in the United States. This clock is an exceptional example of what an artisan can produce with Incolay. This clock is the largest piece created by Incolay. It measures 21" tall x 9" at widest point x 2.5" at deepest point. It is a weighty piece. The face of the piece is a heavenly scene. And there is a lot going on. From top to bottom, there is a wise man's face that likens a Nordic god. Underneath the numerals, two cherubs are side by side. A vase with a single rose decorates the lower part. Curls and swirls fill in the rest of the body. The clock is in good working order. It takes one size C battery. When cleaning any Incolay product it is important that the piece is never soaked or submerged in water, due to the porous nature of the product. It is recommended to wipe with a damp cloth. Lovely and rare piece of Mid Century home decor.
Chairish sells clocks only with display as the intended use. The mechanical elements are not guaranteed to be in working order by Chairish.
