Here is a 1976 framed Sadao Watanabe woodblock print “The Good Samaritan.” A colorful signed woodcut stencil depicting a good samaritan having placed the suffering traveler upon his horseback with other figures in the background. Signed in pencil. A colorful and bold religious piece!

An exceptional artist of the 20th century, Sadao Watanabe worked primarily in Japanese stencil printing and focused on biblical subjects. He is renowned both in Japan and beyond for his woodblock prints. His work can be found in collections from the Vatican to the Tate Gallery.
