Rare and precious ebony-plated domed casket with rich gilded bronze decoration and central jasper medallion.
Italian Renaissance manufacture from the early 17th century.
The production of boxes in precious essences enriched with decorations in bronze and semiprecious stones was spread in the 17th century by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure of Florence. There are few original examples of the time; most boxes on the art market today are 19th century reproductions.
Our box is in excellent condition, complete with original key and lock.
