an extremely rare louis xiv period carved and gilt oak 'entre-deux' mirror with it's original mercury glass.

the narrow and high shape of these type of mirrors was particularly designed to be used in between 2 doors or windows. Nowadays these shapes are hard to find, especially from this period.
the top is decorated with a flower basket or 'jardiniere' and the rims with classic decorative carvings.
the gold leaf is all original and in good condition wit a great patina.
the back of the mirror is stamped 'mv' with a flower on top. This is probably an inventory mark from the castle where it was originally made for.
a unique piece of 300 years old french history. less
