Very beautiful Biot water service dating from the 1940s consisting of a large carafe and 10 colored glasses.
Entirely mouth-blown. Very good condition.
It was in 1956 that Verrerie de Biot was founded in Biot, on the Côte d’Azur. She invented the famous bubble glass, known today as Biot glass.
The company developed the technique and designed the machine which makes it possible to harmoniously distribute the baking soda powder on the post, that is to say on a ball of hot glass being shaped. Bubbles were until now considered a defect of poorly refined glass, but the “Verrerie de Biot” transforms them into a decorative process by deliberately creating gaseous bubbles in the mass of glass.
