Set of two red ceramic brutalist vases designed with sgraffito decor geometric lines designed by akru keramik, germany. Both vases in good condition. Akru keramik was founded in 1948 by master potter alfred josef krupp and his wife thilde as the “alfred j. Krupp ceramic workshop”. Krupp, trained at the technical college for ceramics in höhr-grenzhausen. The couple began producing vases and utensils using a native red clay normally used in the production of bricks, commonly called “clinkers”. These production methods are highly water resistant and in most cases waterproof, even without an internal glaze. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
