Vintage Japanese Takaoka Bronze Copperware Dragon Vase
This is a vintage Japanese Takaoka Doki copperware vase with a verdigris green & bronze finish. Vase has graceful lines and features dragon head handles and bas-relief depictions of dragons spewing fire. The interior opening of the vase is lined with leather. Takaoka copperware is a type of copperware produced in the area around the city of Takaoka in the Toyama prefecture of Japan. They produce products ranging from small items such as indoor ornaments, Buddhist tools, and vases to larger items such as temple bells, Buddhist statues, and copper statues.
Takaoka copperware is regarded as a high end producer of Japan's copperware vessels. Vase is in excellent condition, no damage, circa 1970's. Measures 9.25" high and 5.5" wide. Would be lovely in an Asian, Japanese, Chinese, or Chinoiserie decor.
