The architect and designer who created the "theorem" for the resolution of the age-old problem: "functionality or decoration" is not unknown to anyone, but in case it was for you, I'm talking about Ettore Sottsass Jr. Known to all interior design lovers for the iconic Ultrafragola mirror, Ettore Sottsass Jr designed alone, or with his collective Memphis Group, some of the most significant pieces of post-war design, so much so that some seem to come from a future that has not yet arrived. Lamps, furniture and objects that are not only functional but also pleasant and fun to use, just think of all the items designed for the Olivetti company or for Alessi, or the stunning furniture and lamps for Poltronova and Stilnovo. The items we offer are ambiguous, very glamorous, they have one foot in the 70s with the use of gold-plated brass and one in the 80s with their postmodern shape. Designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1985 for the Valli & Valli company, these Hat & Coat Hooks have a small and essential hook in the lower part, cylindrical in shape and a larger and richly decorated one, in the upper part. The main hook is composed of 4 concentric semicircles that develop around a central nucleus, reflecting and creating splendid light effects thanks to their arrangement and the material used. All the hooks are in good vintage condition, showing minimal signs of use and time. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution less
