This 5x7 Swedish style kilim rug is from the award-winning Scandinavian rug collection by Rug & Kilim. Handwoven in wool, cotton and undyed, natural yarns, this flatweave is inspired by Swedish Deco Rollakan and Rya rugs.
On the Design:
This polychromatic rug enjoys beige-brown, blue and light purple tones underscoring geometric patterns in a play of quiet and playful, vibrant hues together—very keeping with the Swedish minimalist style that inspired this collection. This particular blend of colors also births hints of teal, taupe, lavender for a delightful visual impact. Keen eyes will admire undyed, natural yarns interwoven for a look of striae and subtle color variation. This proprietary technique both honors mid-century weaving techniques and creates a modern take on a vintage abrashed look. The result is a subtle compliment to the sense of movement that plays beautifully with this comfortable Swedish-style pattern.
Our flatweave’s more durable, weighted body is also a hallmark of the collection, made for high-traffic and heavy-furniture spaces. This, alongside several elements detailed here, represent R&K Principal Jahanshah Nazmiyal’s hope to honor this mid-century modern aesthetic.
