Opening its doors in 1967 in the posh Mayfair district of London, Le Gavroche was founded by brothers Michel and Albert Roux. Le Gavroche was the first restaurant in the UK to receive a Michelin star and went on to receive a total of three! Known for its upscale, French cuisine, Le Gavroche's standout dish was the soufflé Suissesse, which was described by one critic as the restaurant world's "Mona Lisa." Charlie Chaplin enjoyed his soufflé so much that he returned to Le Gavroche every night for a week! Famous patrons included Mick Jagger, Judi Dench, Ava Gardner, Robert Redford, and more! Famed chef, Gordon Ramsay worked at le Gavroche in 1989, apprenticing under Albert Roux. Sadly, the restaurant closed its doors in 2024.
