Description: A French burl wood veneered commode, with its original marble top, from the early 19th century. This antique chest from … more A French burl wood veneered commode, with its original marble top, from the early 19th century. This antique chest from France retains its original black marble top, which rests above a case that houses four dove-tailed drawers (each with escutcheon keyhole at center) flanked within canted front side posts, and raised upon a flat molded base. The entire chest, including the drawers, side posts and base, are all finished in a lovely burled wood veneer, which is complimentary to the grain of the sides.
