19th century Chinese cabinet with carved panels and painting. From Anhui province this cabinet is made of fir wood and cypress. Outlining the carved panels, ground pearl shell is mixed into the lacquer to produce a iridescent sandy textured finish that will reflect light to elaborate the carving, which is also gilded. Painted panels depict remnants of a story long ago. This is a absolute treasure for a cabinet.
