Mid-late 19th century, likely Mongolian, silver & burlwood box with silver removable liner. The lid has a thick hand worked silver cover with 8 panels of mythological animals & riders. Base band of thick silver. All applied work set with turquoise & malachite. Wonderful patina. Used to hold tsampa, the roasted barley flour staple of the Tibetan region. 15 stones lost through the ages.
