Herend service consisting of 8 parts: oval plate, tea pot with lid, milk jug, sugar bowl, 2 cups, 2 saucers. Shape: osier / basket weave decor: fd - fleurs des indes / indian basket - richly colored floral decoration with gold edges. The 'fleurs des indes' or 'indian basket' decor is reminiscent of floral decorations of japanese origin that became popular in europe in the early 18th century. The herend decor of this name shows motifs of reeds and lichens, a wreath of twigs set with stylized flowers and dainty leaves, surrounded by a gold-edged leaf garland. A great admirer of this pattern was empress eugenie, wife of napoleon iii of france, who had a dinner served on this service in honor of emperor franz joseph of austria-hungary during the world exhibition in paris in 1867.
