This striking French Louis XIV-style giltwood console table is a true statement piece, offering an elegant blend of classic design and intricate craftsmanship. The giltwood frame features ornate detailing, including a scalloped center, delicate foliate motifs, and classic gadrooning along the apron. The painted geometric design on the top adds a touch of artistic flair, while the square-tapered legs are adorned with scrolled elements, acanthus carvings, and medallions. An x-form stretcher connects the legs, with an ornately scrolled stretcher at the center, highlighted by an acanthus finial.
This console table has some gentle signs of use, including finish loss and flaking on the top, which speaks to its character and history.
The mirror was custom made for the original owner of the console to complement the table, creating a cohesive and elegant two-piece set.
