Musee du Louvre chalcographie restrike of original engraved copperplate. Louvre seal at bottom center.
The original: "Plan De Paris, Divise en Seize Quartiers", by Jean De Lagrive, 1744. Map of Paris, Divided in Sixteen Quarters. This map: A restrike of the original plate by the Chalcographie du Louvre. The Chalcographie was founded in 1797 and is responsible for conserving and printing from several thousand such plates. This map is set on Rives etching paper and appears to date from the middle third of the 20th century. Unframed. The sheet is approximately 41 1/2" x 29 3/4". The plate dimensions approximately 35 1/2" x 24 1/2".
Various areas of discoloration along with damage to the edge of the sheet. Please examine photos closely.
